The Ultimate Hackathon: Vibe to Survive
August 2026
Sunken Garden · Reid Library · Matilda Bay
The biggest thing we've run. A joint hackathon with the Data Science Club and Coders for Causes that drew over a hundred participants across thirty teams.
The brief was a post-apocalyptic scenario played out across three regions of campus — the Sunken Garden, Reid Library and Matilda Bay. Teams worked challenges around information and communication, data reliability, and resource logistics, using AI as a tool to survive rather than as the point of the exercise.
Judging stayed deliberately lenient and pitch-based, which is how a room with that many first-time hackers still ends with thirty teams presenting something. Red Bull and WADSIH kept it running.
