Turing to Transformers

4 March 2026

The Circle, Reid Library

Free

A presenter talking through a slide on LLMs, generative AI and agents to a full room

Curious about AI but with no idea where to start? This was built for exactly that — no assumed background of any kind.

We covered the history of AI, the jargon explained properly (machine learning, neural networks, transformers and the rest), where AI is actually applied, and which tools are genuinely worth your time. Attendees also heard about the partners backing the club and what they're doing for Perth's AI landscape.

It's the event we point people to when they say they're interested but feel like they've missed the boat. You haven't.
