Know Thyself: Remaining Critical in the Age of AI
2025
Hemsley Learning Suite, Reid Library
Free

Presented with the PPE Union of UWA, this was a deliberately critical counterweight to the build-first half of what we do.
Associate Professor Celeste Rodriguez Louro is Director of the Language Lab and Linguistics Discipline Chair at UWA, Deputy Chair of UWA's Generative AI Think Tank, and holder of a 2026 Visiting Fellowship at All Souls College, Oxford. Her research covers language change, decolonisation and inclusive technologies, supported by the ARC, Google and the Heart Foundation, and she is co-authoring a book with Nyungar scholar Glenys Collard under contract with Cambridge University Press.
She shared insights from the Think Tank and offered a critical perspective on AI technologies and their impact on human futures, followed by an open Q&A.
